<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a corrosion inhibitor and a corrosion inhibiting method which contain no environmental contaminants, such as heavy metals and phosphorus, or are excellent in a metal corrosion inhibiting effect even when used in a very low concentration, thereby effectively performing corrosion inhibition while inhibiting scale adhesion to the metal surface in a water system. <P>SOLUTION: A water treatment agent includes, as an active ingredient, a copolymer containing (1) itaconic acid and (2) maleic acid and/or fumaric acid as active ingredients, wherein the mixing weight ratio of (1) to (2) is from 10-90:90-10, and the total of (1) and (2) is equal to or more than 80 wt.% in the monomer composition of the copolymer, and a water treatment method adds the copolymer to a target water system. A water treatment agent contains, as active ingredients, the copolymer and a polymer containing a sulfonic group, and a water treatment method adds the copolymer and the polymer containing a sulfonic group to a target water system. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
