PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring device of an escalator capable of reducing the reflection of external light into a video photographed by a monitoring camera without becoming a hindrance to a passenger, and without impairing the aesthetic appearance of a building by the monitoring camera after installation by arranging the monitoring camera without being influenced by a structure and the finish of the building. SOLUTION: A transparent camera storage cylinder 20 arranged at the rear of a movable warning body when the rising direction of the escalator is set as the front direction and storing the monitoring camera 21 and a light shielding member 40 arranged in the camera storage cylinder 20 and shielding external light advancing toward the monitoring camera 21 are provided at the escalator having a fixed protective body and the movable warning body as a protective body arranged in a narrow angle part and preventing a passenger from being nipped in the narrow angle part in the rising operation of the escalator by forming the narrow angle part between a separate escalator adjacent in a crossing state and itself.
