PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body side structure which compatibly satisfies lightweight of side sills and ensuring strength of the side sills against collision, and which suppresses the amount of protrusion of a center pillar into a vehicle interior. SOLUTION: The vehicle body side structure 11 includes a left side sill 66 continuous with an end 115 of a floor panel 45; a right side sill substantially symmetrical to the left side sill 66; and a center pillar 81. The vehicle body side structure has, in the vicinity of the center pillar 81, a gusset 151, one end of which is connected to a cross member (floor front cross member 48) connecting the right and left side sills 66, and the other end is connected to a longitudinal side section (inner longitudinal side section 94) of the side sills 66. The gusset has smaller strength than the strength of the side sills 66 and the strength of the cross member (floor front cross member 48) against a side collision load. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
