An authentication object device is provided with an authentication object device CPU and an authentication object device storage unit, wherein the authentication object device storage unit stores a medium ID and an encrypted authentication key in a protected area. The authentication device obtains an authentication key by decrypting the encrypted authentication key using the manufacturer authentication key and the medium ID by the authentication device controller, and performs device authentication of the authentication object device by decrypting the encrypted code using the authentication key and comparing the decrypted code with the correct solution code.
