PURPOSE: An image display device and a backlight control method thereof are provided to accurately control a backlight unit according to color temperature by compensating RGB value. CONSTITUTION: A backlight unit includes a display panel for irradiating light to a display panel. The color temperature or the presentation image of the display panel is sensed(305). A control unit controls the brightness irradiated by the backlight unit. Accurate white balance is maintained by maintaining color temperature and compensating an RGB value changed by current amount. |
