PRESENCE NOTIFICATION METHOD AND MAIL TRANSMITTING/RECEIVING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a cellular phone mail sender of the situation where a recipient can not immediately respond to cellular phone mail. SOLUTION: When mail received from a sender terminal 1 is stored in a mail box, a cellular phone mail server 3 simultaneously starts a monitoring timer and transmits a call arrival notification to a recipient terminal 5. If a mail request is not redirected even after the lapse of a predetermined time from transmission of the call arrival notification to the recipient terminal 5, the cellular phone mail server 3 transmits to the sender terminal 1 a message indicating that a recipient of cellular phone mail is located out of coverage, or the recipient terminal 5 is powered off.
