PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network camera capable of reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: The camera 100 is provided with: an imaging part which generates a video signal by driving an image pickup device 102 in a predetermined drive system; a video signal generation part 105 which generates a low image quality video signal having a first frame rate and a first resolution using the video signal; a video signal generation part 106 which generates a high image quality video signal having at least one of a second frame rate higher than the first frame rate and a second resolution higher than the first resolution using the video signal; a recording part 109 which records the high image quality video signal in a memory; and transmission parts 107 and 108 which transmit at least one of the low image quality video signal and the high image quality video signal to a reception terminal 120 via a network 130 where the imaging part selects either a first drive system for acquiring the low image quality video signal or a second drive system for acquiring the high image quality video signal, and drives the image pickup device 102 in the selected driving system.
