[Also in Division B8] A barrel-shaped container 8 having its curved wall of a synthetic resin or rubber, reinforced by a winding of thread, is produced by winding a thread 5 on to a barrel-shaped collapsible rotating core so that the thread passes continuously from one end of the core to the other, and leaves openings at the core ends, coating the completed winding with a synthetic resin or rubber, collapsing the core and removing the parts thereof from the ends of the thus formed container shell, and applying closures 10 to the openings. The core comprises longitudinally extending curved strips (1), Fig. 6, not shown, held together at their ends by plates (17) and bolts (3) Fig. 7, not shown; it is rotated by a shaft (20) acting through members (6) having pins (7) engaging the plates (17). Each closure comprises annular members (10, 11), Fig. 5, not shown, clamped to the container opening by bolts (12), and a closure plate (22) secured by bolts (18). A handle 15 is provided. |
