PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-in-oil type inverse latex as a thickening agent, a method for producing the same, and the thickening agent and/or an emulsifying agent used in care products for skin and hair, or for the production of a cosmetic preparation, skin pharmaceutical preparation or pharmaceutical preparation. SOLUTION: This inverse latex composition is provided by containing (a) 50 to 80 wt.% at least 1 kind of a linear chain, branched chain or cross-linked organic polymer (P), (b) 5 to 10 wt.% water in oil (W/O) type emulsified system (S<SB>1</SB>), (c) 5 to 45 wt.% at least 1 kind of oil and (d) 0 to 5 wt.% water. The polymer (P) is selected from a homopolymer, copolymer or the like of a monomer selected from any one of a monomer having a strongly acidic functional group partially or completely made as a salt, a monomer having a weak acidic functional group partially or completely made as a salt, or a cationic monomer.
