[Also in Division H3] In a coincident current matrix comprising a storage core matrix and a driving core matrix, the cores of the latter being electromagnetically coupled to respective sets of storage cores of the storage core matrix by respective closed loop conductors, read out is by detecting voltage changes from an interrogated core induced into the coupled closed loop conductor. The change of state of the storage core being interrogated occurs during the change of state of the interrogating driving core through one of the steep portions of its hysteresis characteristic. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, driving cores 14, 16, 18 and 20 of driving core matrix 12 are biased by source IB and are adapted to be switched by coincident currents from sources 62, 64, 66 and 68 which generate magnetomotive forces in opposition to the biasing magnetomotive forces. A sense amplifier 70 is connected across the biasing source 60 and line 82A is used to sense changes of flux in driving core matrix 12. In order to interrogate storage core 53 in the storage matrix 10, control logic 80 sends a signal C to current source 30 and thereby to switching means 32A, 32B as well as to current sources 64, 68. Clock source 76 generates signal 300, Fig. 6A, to cause currents from sources 64 68 to switch the operating point of core 16 from 206 to 204, Fig. 5, resulting in a current pulse to be sent through the loop 24. Immediately afterwards clock sources 78, 74 are energized, clock 78 causing current pulse 302 to be sent to the column including core 53. Storage core 53 is thus interrogated and if it is in its " 0 " state it does not change its remanent state. However, if a " 1 " is being stored its remanent state is switched causing a signal to be generated in loop 24 and since the remanent state of the driving core is in the steep portion of the hysteresis loop, e.g. 210 at this point a voltage is induced back into the biasing line 82A. This induced electromotive force appears across bias current source 60, which pulse in combination with clock signal 304 from source 74 opens gate 72 and a read out signal is obtained therefrom. Signals 306A and 308A represent 1's and 0's respectively, Figs. 6C, 6D. A balancing core 69 and current source 67 may be connected in series with the biasing source 60 to cancel voltages due to core 16 being switched in which case line 71 is omitted and the waveforms obtained are as shown at 306, 308. In a second embodiment, Fig. 2 (not shown), a separate driving core is coupled to each row set of matrix 10 and a separate sensing line threads the driving cores in addition to the bias conductor, the sense amplifier being connected to the sensing line.
