The invention relates to a method and a device for producing alkylamines and alkylamine derivatives from alkanes. According to the invention, at least one boric acid is reacted with at least one alkane with the addition of energy in the gas phase. The thus obtained intermediate product is hydrolysed and/or reacted with suitable reagents in order to obtain the desired product(s).
