PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy casting material having excellent plastic workability. SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy casting material has DAS (Dendrite Arm Spacing) of 0.5 to 5.0μm. The casting material is produced by continuous casting where a magnesium alloy is melted in a melting furnace, the obtained molten metal is transferred to a reservoir, and the molten metal is fed to a movable die from the reservoir via a pouring port so as to be solidified. The part with which the molten metal comes in contact in the process from the melting to the casting is obtained by using a member formed of a low oxygen material in which the content of oxygen is≤20 mass%, and performing rapid cooling upon solidification in particular. The DAS satisfies the above range, so that the magnesium alloy casting material has excellent plastic workability. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
