PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus effectively reducing the power consumption when performing image stabilization process, a control method of the image forming apparatus, and a power-saving control program of the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 2 performing image stabilization process has: an image processing part 23 creating image data of a printing pattern used for the image stabilization process prior to the image stabilization process; a storage part 22; a printing part 26 performing image stabilization process based on the image data held in the storage part 22; and a control part 21 shifting the image forming apparatus 2 to a power-saving mode. The control part 21 shifts the image forming apparatus to a first power-saving mode by power-saving control in the image processing part 23 and a printer engine 26 when predetermined power-saving mode shifting conditions are met, and shifts to a second power-saving mode by power-saving control of the image processing part 23 when performing the image stabilization process by the printing part 26.
