A solar cell (1) is provided with a photoelectric conversion layer (4) which converts light into electricity, and a reflecting electrode (5b) which is arranged on the photoelectric conversion layer (4) side opposite to the light incoming side and reflects light, which has passed through the photoelectric conversion layer (4), to the photoelectric conversion layer side.  For the purpose of providing the reflecting electrode having excellent adhesiveness and thermal corrosion resistance, stable electrical characteristics and good light reflection characteristics and obtaining the solar cell having high reliability and excellent electrical characteristics and optical characteristics, the reflecting electrode (5b) has a metal layer (5b), which contains silver as a main component and nitrogen, on the photoelectric conversion layer (4) side.
