Provided is an electrical connector that has a protecting member that protects a plurality of electrical contact sections, and that has the protecting member moved when connecting to a connector section of the opposing side, releasing the electrical contact sections. The electrical connector also has the plurality of electrical contact sections placed in parallel in the moving direction of the protecting member, and can be made to be compact in that moving direction. The electrical connector section is characterized in being provided with: a first and a second electrical contact section (64a, 64b) that can make contact with a first and a second electrical contact section (59a, 59b) of the opposing side, respectively; and the protecting member (66) that can be moved in a moving direction that is directed from the aforementioned first electrical contact section (64a) towards the aforementioned second electrical contact section (64b), from a protecting position wherein the aforementioned first and second electrical contact sections (64a, 64b) are protected, to a releasing position wherein the aforementioned first and second electrical contact sections (64a, 64b) are released. The electrical connector section is also characterized in having the aforementioned protecting member (66) provided with a releasing section (71a) that releases the aforementioned second electrical contact section (64b), when the aforementioned protecting member (66) is placed at the aforementioned releasing position.
