<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ammonia gas sensor having excellent ammonia selectivity, and having little influence of sensitivity caused by H<SB>2</SB>O in detection object gas. <P>SOLUTION: This ammonia gas sensor 200A includes a solid electrolyte body 22A having oxygen ion conductivity, and a detection electrode 2A and a reference electrode 4A provided respectively on the surface of the solid electrolyte body. The detection electrode is mainly composed of Au, and includes 0.05-6.5 mol% of one or more kinds of metal oxides selected from a group of V, Bi, W and Mo.
