1,266,633. Shaft couplings. BENDIX CORP. 16 Oct., 1969 [29 Oct., 1968], No. 50841/69. Heading F2U. The ends of two shafts 10, 14 each having longitudinal protrusions (e.g. serrations 12, 16) are coupled by a sleeve 20 having two ends 28, 30 from each of which extends inwardly a bore 32, 36 with protrusions to receive one or other of the shafts 10, 14, and having spaced from the end an annular groove 34, 38 extending radially outwardly of the bore and receiving a resilient ring 22, 24 (e.g. of P.T.F.E. or nylon) for frictional engagement with the corresponding shaft when inserted. The bottoms of the grooves 34, 38 may have holes 48 into which the rings 22, 24 may start to flow to prevent relative rotation. There may be a groove 47 between the bores 32, 36 and a groove 45 receiving a split ring 26 engaging a groove 46 on the shaft 10. |
