PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such the problem that, in the case where the content of arsenic contained for improving strength in a lead-antimony based alloy used for a lead storage battery is controlled to the conventional region of about 0.2% to≤0.1 mass% from the viewpoint of environmental hygiene, the strength of the lead alloy is lowered, and is made lower than the strength required for the lattice of a lead storage battery and lead components for various connections, to provide a lead alloy having strength required for a lead storage battery while the content of arsenic in the lead-antimony based alloy is reduced to the region of 0.1 mass%, and to obtain a lead storage battery which has excellent durability by using the same. SOLUTION: The lead alloy for a lead storage battery comprises, by mass, 1.7 to 3.0% antimony, 0.0005 to 0.1% arsenic and 0.01 to 0.5% sodium. Further, by using the lead alloy to a lead component for connection, a lattice for a lead battery or the like, the lead storage battery in which the reduction of the arsenic content and durability are made compatible can be obtained.
