PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hard film which can obtain excellent performance about all of deposition resistance, wear resistance, and heat resistance. SOLUTION: A hard film 20 coating the surface of a cutting edge 14 of a ball-end mill 10 is configured so that a I layer 20a comprising (Al<SB>a</SB>Cr<SB>(1-a-b)</SB>Y<SB>b</SB>)C<SB>c</SB>N<SB>(1-c)</SB>[here, a, b, and c are within a range of 0.4≤a≤0.8, 0.01≤b≤0.05, and 0≤c≤0.5, respectively, at atomic ratios], and a second layer 20b, comprising CrC<SB>d</SB>N<SB>(1-d)</SB>[here, d is an atomic ratio and within a range of 0≤d≤0.5], are alternately stacked in one or more periods at a stacking period Tp of ≥1 nm and the total film-thickness Ttotal is set within a range of 0.1-10 μm. The AlCrN-based I layer 20a obtains high-hardness and excellent wear resistance while the CrN-based II layer 20b obtains low-friction-coefficient and excellent deposition resistance. On the other hand, the I layer 20a is added with Y (yttrium) at a prescribed atomic ratio, thereby improving high-temperature oxidation resistance and obtaining excellent heat resistance.
