PURPOSE: An image processing apparatus and a controlling method of the same are provided to simultaneously control the respective applications through a single or a plurality of input devices and display cursors for simultaneously controlling the plurality of applications when a plurality of applications controllable on a digital television (DTV) or a personal computer (PC) are executed at a time. CONSTITUTION: If the pointing device A(230) is assigned to a game screen(210) or a broadcasting screen(220) on the basis of the location of a pointing cursor, the pointing cursor can control the application corresponding to the most adjacent screen between the underlying game screen and broadcasting screen displayed overlapping each other. A background, then the game screen, then the broadcasting screen, then the pointing cursor are arranged in sequence from a bottom layer to a top layer. In this case, the broadcasting screen is a screen most adjacent to the pointing cursor among the screens displayed under the pointing cursor and overlapping one another.
