PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible display device that prevents the occurrence of defects, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.

SOLUTION: The flexible display includes a flexible substrate made of plastic material, a display element formed on one surface of the flexible substrate and a surface residual film containing at least one or more of a metal material and a metal oxide material, the surface residual film being bonded to an area being at least part of the other surface of the flexible substrate.
