PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an unsaturated cyclic compound which excels in respect of yield, and is efficient when producing the unsaturated cyclic compound usingα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid and an unsaturated organic compound. SOLUTION: The method for producing an unsaturated cyclic compound comprises reacting anα,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid with an unsaturated organic compound in the presence of a catalyst, wherein the unsaturated organic compound is shown by formula (1), wherein R<SP>1</SP>denotes a hydrogen atom or a 1-30C organic group, and n denotes a number of 0-10. The method for producing an unsaturated cyclic compound is characterized by being carried out in a reaction system using a carboxylic acid-based solvent or a reaction system without solvent.
