PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the automatic inspection apparatus of a mold capable of simultaneously detecting the presence of recessed and protruded defects on the surface of a metal mold for anti-glaring treatment having a chromium plating surface and capable of detecting a defect with high inspection precision even with respect to a plurality of kinds of molds having different surface uneven shapes. SOLUTION: This inspection apparatus for detecting the recessed defect and/or protruded defect on the surface of the mold for anti-glaring treatment is equipped with a first illuminator for irradiating the surface of the mold with first light, a second illuminator for irradiating the surface of the mold with second light, a two-dimensional imaging device for acquiring the image related to the region of a part of the surface of the mold containing the regions irradiated with the first and second lights, a light intensity control means for controlling the intensities of the first and second lights and an arithmetic means for operating the difference between the brightness at the preliminarily indicated point on the image and the luminous intensity or luminous intensity range preliminarily indicated with respect to the preliminarily indicated point.
