The belt pretensioner (1) has a force limitation device with a belt shaft (2), on which the safety belt is wound. A spring element (5) is provided, which is arranged to a tensioner drive wheel (3) in the removal region of the inertia elements (6,7,8,9). The inertia elements successively contact the spring element during the removal from the tensioner drive wheel.
