FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: here is disclosed installation for electrolysis of water at production of hydrogen by means of water reduction. The installation consists of an anode section, a cathode section and of a connecting element coupled with anode and cathode sections. The element facilitates conducting ions between the said anode and cathode sections. The cathode section contains electrolytic solution with hydrogen index (pH) from 3 to 9 and at least one weak acid. Also, the said cathode section is equipped with an electrode contacting said solution. Part of this electrode is made out of conducting polymer or not necessary oxidised forms of iron, chromium, nickel or cobalt, for example, out of stainless steel. Weak acid is added as a buffer into electrolytic solution in the cathode and/or anode sections to prevent or limit variation of pH in the section where it is added. Also, acid can function as catalyst of water reduction. The suggested choice of material on the cathode in the installation facilitates reduction of over-voltage on the cathode and, also, its corrosion resistance and long service life. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency of installation. ^ 18 cl, 3 dwg, 4 tbl |
