<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for switching between three-dimensional (3D) stereoscopic image display and two-dimensional (2D) image display without requiring a mechanical switching mechanism and without reducing the display performance. <P>SOLUTION: This display device includes a display section for displaying an image and a polarizing plate arranged on the visible side of the display section, and observes the image having passed the polarizing plate as a stereoscopic image by passing it through polarizing glasses having right and left different polarization axes.
