<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover detection mechanism with an inexpensive detection means in which the detection of a cover opening/closing in two different directions is detected by one detection means, and a complicated linking mechanism is not required inside the body to reduce the number of components. <P>SOLUTION: The cover detection mechanism 60 includes: a first cover 101 which can be opened/closed; a second cover 102 which can be opened/closed which is adjacent to the first cover 101; a first projection 61 and a second projection 62 respectively included in the first cover 101 and the second cover 102; and a detection means 63 for detecting the closed state of the cover by abutting.
