PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to downsize a connector while regulating flexing of a lance for locking a terminal fitting. SOLUTION: The connector includes: a female terminal 14 mounted in a cavity 12 of a first housing 10A; a lance 19 prepared in an elastically deformable state into a flexibility allowance space 22 formed in the first housing 10A, for locking the female terminal 14 mounted in the cavity 12 to prevent it from coming off from the cavity 12 and for releasing the locked state of the female terminal 14 by elastically deforming from the locked state into the flexibility allowance space 22; and a retainer projection part 34 formed in protrusion in an insertion-coupling direction with the first housing 10A, in the counterpart side second housing 30A, for disabling the lance 19 to elastically deform in the locking releasing direction by going into the flexibility allowance space 22 while being guided to the first housing 10A upon mutual insertion coupling of both housings 10A, 30A.
