<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide crystalline polymorphs of rifaximin (INN). <P>SOLUTION: Rifaximinγwhich is a poorly crystalline polymorph of rifaximin (INN) is obtained by means of a crystallization method carried out by: hot-dissolving the raw rifaximin in ethanol; causing the crystallization of the product by addition of water at a fixed temperature; and finally drying under controlled conditions until reaching a precise water content in the end product.
