PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an ink cartridge to be easily and certainly loaded by obtaining big push-in force with very small force for loading the ink cartridge. SOLUTION: The device for attaching and detaching the ink cartridge includes: a cartridge holding means 30 holding the ink cartridge 11 by inserting the ink cartridge 11 by a predetermined first stroke; and a power transmission mechanism 32 assuring the pushing force necessary for loading the ink cartridge 11 using the principle of leverage based on the rotation movement of a lever arm 163 and converting the rotation movement of the lever arm 163 to the movement of the predetermined second stroke S necessary for loading the ink cartridge 11 held by the cartridge holding means 30 wherein the power transmission mechanism 32 includes the first cam (172) moving the cartridge holding means 30 by the predetermined second stroke S.
