PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safety device for calling attention of a passenger who leans out over a moving handrail even if not in contact with a triangular protective plate with relatively simple construction, and not giving uncomfortable feeling to the other passengers. SOLUTION: In a passenger conveyor including railings provided with the moving handrails 1 at upper parts on both sides, and climbing preventive partition plates 5a, 5b, 5c vertically provided on an outer side deck 8 on the lower outer side of the railings, the safety device includes a parametric speaker 6 generating sound information regarding an alarm in the inside of the outer side deck 8 to be configured to reflect the sound information generated from the parametric speaker 6 at the climbing preventive partition plates 5a, 5b, 5c, and to be audible only at the outer side of the moving handrails 1, thus calling attention of a passenger who leans out over the moving handrails 1.
