SEPARATOR, ELECTRIC DOUBLE LAYER CAPACITOR, BATTERY AND LAMINATE

Disclosed is a separator which is characterized in that: (i) the separator has at least one ultra fine fiber layer and a base layer, and is used for a capacitor or battery; (ii) the ultra fine fiber layer is composed of aramid filaments that are formed from a meta-aramid or a para-aramid and have an average fiber diameter of 10-600 nm; (iii) the aramid filaments of the ultra fine fiber layer are continuous long fibers; and (iv) the base layer is composed of fibers that contain at least aramid fibers that are formed from a meta-aramid or a para-aramid. The separator for a capacitor or battery has excellent heat resistance and flame retardancy, and is not deteriorated in the physical properties or performance when heated during drying or processing. In addition, the separator for a capacitor or battery has low internal resistance and is free from the risk of ignition at the time of thermal runaway.
