COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, DISPERSION SLOPE IMPARTING UNIT, AND COMMUNICATION METHOD

The transmission quality is improved in view of the prior art.  In a communication system having a transmission path for performing communication of optical signals, dispersion slope imparting units, which are adapted to impart dispersion characteristics and dispersion slope characteristics that are different in accordance with different wavelength ranges of the optical signals, are provided for the respective transmitting and receiving ends of the transmission path.  The dispersion characteristics and dispersion slope characteristics imparted by the dispersion slope imparting units are different between the transmitting and receiving ends.
