PURPOSE: A white light emitting diode and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce manufacturing costs by directly arranging fluorescent pigment on the surface of a light emitting diode chip. CONSTITUTION: A bonding part of a light emitting diode chip(3) is covered with a mask. Fluorescent pigment(2) is arranged on the surface of a light emitting diode covered with the mask. The mask is removed. The light emitting diode chip without the mask is attached to a printed circuit board or lead frame(7) and is wire-bonded. The light emitting diode chip is molded with transparent resin.
