PURPOSE: An underwater pier construction system and method are provided to enable quick and convenient construction of an underground pier without heavy equipment by successively assembling caisson segments to the underwater ground through a work hole of a floating member instead of placing a single large caisson. CONSTITUTION: An underwater pier construction system comprises a floating member(10), a plurality of caisson segments(20), and a traction device(30). The floating member has a work hole(12) bored from top to bottom and is floated on the water of the location where a pier is to be installed. The caisson segments are successively assembled through the work hole of the floating member and settled on the underwater ground(E) so that concrete is placed and cured inside the caisson segments to construct a pier. The traction device draws the caisson segments to be sunken to the underwater ground. |
