<p>Activating functionality on a mobile device, by installing said software on said mobile device and registering in the mobile deviceâ s operating system a link between the universal resource identifier (URI) scheme and the application. When a code, such as a barcode is scanned in or received by email or near field communication, passing the code URI to the installed software to activate a function of the software. The code includes a code URI comprising an application URI scheme and activation data for the item of software. The running of software processes on activation data validates that the data conforms to an allowed format. The activation may be of an application for the mobile smart phone licensed from an application store.</p> |
