<p>A synthetic fiber rope is constituted by means of collecting a plurality of strands (9), each strand being formed by twisting wires (6) made of synthetic resin fiber. The wires (6) constituting the strands (9) are provided in the synthetic resin rope with a high filling rate when viewed in cross section. A main cable (2) made of the synthetic fiber rope is suspended. In an elevator system, vertically-movable members (3) and (4) of the elevator system are supported by the main cable (2). By means of the construction, the cross-sectional strength of the main cable (2) per unit area is increased. Therefore, the number of main cables (2) to be used for supporting the vertically-movable members (3) and (4) can be reduced, and equipment related to support of the main cable (2), such as a sheave, can be made compact. <IMAGE></p> |
