<p>A door latch, for a vehicle, includes: a lock lever 19 moved by an electric driving source 17 between unlocked and locked positions; and a pivotal emergency operation member 23 which is arranged to transmit a rotational force to the lock lever 19 to move the lock lever 19 from the unlock position to the lock position and connected with the lock lever 19 through a play corresponding to an activation stroke of the lock lever 19 between the lock position and the unlock position so as not to receive the movement of the lock lever 19 when driven electrically, and which includes an engagement portion 232 located on a side surface exposing from an aperture 91, and arranged to be engaged with a tool in the rotational direction such that when installed in a vehicle the latch can be locked from the inside when existing the vehicle during power failure. Preferably a sub-key lever 24 having spaced apart protrusions (252, 253, fig.11) engage a projection (261, fig.11) on a sub-lock lever 26 to achieve lost motion. An external key operated cylinder may also be provided.</p> |
