<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of a catalyst converter which improves the exhaust-gas cleaning performance of the catalyst converter by winding a mat member consisting of a heat-resistance fiber at the predetermined position of a monolithic catalyst not to be off the position. <P>SOLUTION: The mat member 2 and the monolithic catalyst 1 are repeatedly loaded on the loading surface 16 of a supporting member 15. A left-side first abutting member 17 and a right-side first abutting member 19, which are abutting against the mat member 2, are made to move respectively by a first actuator 18, 20 to wind the mat member 2 around the monolithic catalyst 1 from both right and left side. A second abutting member 23 is made to move by a second actuator 24 to press the end part, to which the mat member 2 faces, to the peripheral surface of the monolithic catalyst 1 and to hold it.
