Heading C2C. 2,2-Dimethyl-3-hydroxypropanal is prepared by reacting isobutyraldehyde with 0À5 to 1À5 molar proportions of formaldehyde in the presence of a tertiary amino group-containing material and water. As well as many acyclic and cyclic amines, ion-exchangers having tertiary amino groups are specified, e.g. macroporous poly(dimethylamino-alkylstyrene).</p> |
