1280926 Door check EATON GmbH 4 June 1970 [26 June 1969] 27035/70 Heading E2M A door closer, e.g. for a trap or loft door, comprises a piston 6 having a rod 8 hinged to a door closer axle rotatable against a spring and a cylinder 5 pivotally connected inside a housing 1 filled with a damping fluid, e.g. oil, and provided with a throttle through which fluid passes on closing the door, the throttle having an adjustment member operable from outside the housing. As shown, a bore 19 in the cylinder connects with a conically-ended throttle bore 12 in the cylinder pivot pin 4, a throttle bolt 13 having a conical restrictor 13' is axially displaceable in the bore and is threadedly engaged in the adjustment member 14. A pin 15 in the pivot pin 4, engaged in a slot 4', prevents the throttle bolt rotating; the slat 4' permitting oil from the throttle to enter the housing space 1'. The adjustment member may alternatively be a push-button formed off the axis of rotation of the cylinder 5. A non- return valve 6' is provided in the piston 6. The piston rod 8 may be coupled to a closer axle (11') Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown) either by a rocker arm (9) having a cam follower (10) engaging a cam (11) on the axle or by a crank rod. |
