The calcium phosphates are produced by evaporating solns., obtd. by treating crude phosphates with HNO3, at 100-300 degrees C, in a fluidised bed made up of particles of oxides which are inert to HNO3 and/or alkali metal sulphates and/or alkaline earth metal sulphates. The products are suitable for use as fertilisers and as intermediates for other phosphates.
