<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system capable of suppressing the increase of communication cost caused by a high-speed output of printing document and transmission of character information. <P>SOLUTION: In the printing system in which a host computer 1 transmitting a printing data and a printing device 2 have been connected through a two-way communication means 3, the printing device 2 has a storage 16 for font caches and informs the host computer 1 through the two-way communication means 3 of the maximum size of a character image which can be registered into a continuous vacant capacity in the storage 16 for font caches used discontinuously. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
