A pressure resistant, insulating tube, particularly for sealing the ends of heavy duty cables is pref. reinforced with fabric and formed from an elastic, oil, water, light, ozone and age resistant material such as an elastomer and/or a plastomer, the tube being surrounded by a sheath of cross-linked polyolefine shrunk on to it. The use of an outer layer of cross-linked polyolefine provides a cable insulation with high resistance to mechanical stress and stray currents. The external sheath is pref. irradiation cross-linked polyethylene. |
