Airborne multifunction wideband radar system with a large angular coverage for detection and tracking

The device (50) has transmission and reception antenna modules (41) placed in a surface of an aircraft (1) and above a skin of the aircraft and forming transmission and/or reception beams for permitting detection of targets to implement obstacle detection and avoiding functionality. The transmission and reception modules are placed in a unitary block fixed to a nose (20) of the aircraft. Processing units receive data from the reception modules and sends the processed data to the transmission modules to produce tracking data of the detected targets. An independent claim is also included for an automatic landing system comprising a ground beacon transmitter.
