<p>1276578 Curable water-soluble surface active agents CIBA-GEIGY AG 20 May 1970 [28 May 1969] 24502/70 Addition to 1223824 Heading C3R [Also in Division C5] Curable water-soluble surface active agents used in the recovery of wool fat were prepared as follows: (1) Hexamethylolmelamine-hexamethyl ether, nonyl phenol and polyethylene glycol were fused together and a small amount of 85% strength H 3 PO 4 added. The mixture was heated and triethanolamine added to the water soluble product. A semi-solid colourless mass was obtained which dissolves in water to give foaming solutions. (2) A formaldehyde-urea resin was reacted with ethylene glycol, C 12 -C 15 fatty alcohols and a small amount of glacial acetic acid. Sodium bisulphite was added to the heated mixture until the product dissolved in water. Triethanolamine was added to give a viscous product. (3) The same U-F resin was reacted with lauryl alcohol and butyl glycollate and acetic acid. The product was saponified with NaOH in ethanol.</p> |
