PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a display apparatus thereof are provided to improve the contrast of a displayed image by a using partial driving method and reduce the thickness of the display apparatus. CONSTITUTION: A display apparatus comprises: plural light sources(13) mounted at a substrate(14); at least one light guide panel including a light emitting unit which emits light from a light source; a cover member which covers at least some portion of a light reception unit; and a reflection member which is placed at a lower plane of the light guide panel and includes at least one hole.
