PURPOSE: A nile blue derivative with bivalent mercury ion selectivity and a method for detecting bivalent mercury ion using the same are provided to induce a fluorescence reaction and to ensure high sensitivity and sensitive detection. CONSTITUTION: A nile blue derivative with bivalent mercury ion selectivity is denoted by chemical formula 1. The nile blue derivative of chemical formula 1 is prepared by reacting a compound of chemical formula 2 with a naphthalene derivative of chemical formula 3 according to the reaction of formula 1. A method for detecting a bivalent mercury ion is performed by measuring a wave length value change by the bond of the nile blue derivative and bivalent mercury ion.
