PURPOSE: A device for controlling the side guide of a width rolling-mill is provided to enhance the efficiency of a rolling process and to reduce abnormal overload in the width rolling-mill. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling the side guide of a width rolling-mill comprises a pressure sensor(15), a control unit(20) and a driving unit(11). The pressure sensor is installed on the side guide and senses a pressure, which is generated when the side guide makes contact with a material. The side guide adjusts the position of a material to put onto the width rolling-mill. The control unit drives the side guide based on predetermined data for the width of the material. The control unit controls the side guide so that the side guide proceeds to the material until it receives a signal from the pressure sensor. The driving unit drives the side guide using the control signal of the control unit.
