PURPOSE: An optical assembly, a backlight unit, and a display device having the same are provided to embody the optical assembly in order to improve the display quality. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of light sources(220) of a backlight unit has a light emitting surface on the side of the backlight unit. The light sources includes the side view type LED package in order to address a problem that the light sources are observed as a hot spot on the screen and to slim the backlight unit. A plurality of pattern layers(232) are placed on the second layer(230) facing light sources.
